BAM the App and Mac Tamer

Sometime in 2026 I canceled my subscription to SetApp. Within SetApp was an app called QuitAll, but with MacOS 26 that app became buggy and with the cancellation I didn’t buy the app because I felt the progress in fixing the bugs wasn’t making progress. I set up a shortcut that just quit all apps. This was a suitable replacement, but it was missing the customization of QuitAll. In April of 2026 I started primarily using Claude for AI.

I began to play around with Claude Code and had it begin making a QuitAll style app. This is how BAM was born. I was surprised at how well it completed this task. Over the next few months I would refine that aspect of the app. Then I began to add features like the closing apps after the Mac was idle for a set period of time.

Next I added a shut down and power on option for my Mac. Gone a few iterations of MacOS was the GUI interface that had been present in MacOS. Further you could not have a Shutdown and say Restart in the PMSET. With BAM I made Shutdown a shortcut and wrote Restart to the PMSET. From here I began to refine it, and it occurred to me I should refine it to provide to other users. It’s at this point I compiled version 1 and sent that app to a friend.

With version 1.01 I provided the fellas at the Mac Geek Gab a copy to try. Dave Hamilton provided me with a ton of feedback and I was off and running. Over a weekend with the help of Claude Code I was able to set up a website and bring the App to version 1.05. This past week with additional fine-tuning, BAM is now as of this post at version 1.07.

Originally I had the idea to make the app a one-time purchase but give users a 30-day trial. I posted a small blurb about it on the Mac Geek Gab Discord. Unfortunately an active user without probably knowing it said it wasn’t for him and killed a bit of the momentum I felt I had going as I haven’t had any takers. I plan to reach out to some folks with a bit of reach to see if I can get some promotion.
